What a great weekend
Though I say so myself, that was a great weekend in the Six Bells. Friday night we had music from the fab four, or The Ellis & Connelly Band as they are currently known. They call their show the 20th century jukebox and they really do seem to know every song written in the last 100 years. Saturday we had a birthday party and everyone had a ball and then came Sunday. Everything came together to make one of those great pub days. We had the Open Mic hosted by Heather McVey in the afternoon and there were some really good performances rounding off with the Swamp Brothers, and then came Elvis and he really did wow the crowd!
If you missed it, don’t despair we have more great music from Will Robert on Friday 14th August, the Open Mic will be back on 23 August and Elvis will be back in the building on Sunday 11 October.
A cancellation – sorry
Will Robert has had to postpone his gig on 26 March. We will keep you posted when a replacement date has been arranged. Sorry
Support your local pub
I keep reading about giving up the booze for January and seeing ads about it on TV and I know I have a vested interest but there are a few things that should be borne in mind. Whilst it is all well and good for Cancer Research to have TV ads showing customers asking for soda water and lime to great applause, and whilst publicans are happy to serve that, if all our customers ordered that for a month we would all go out of business. During January we have to pay rent, business rates, utility bills like any other month. We also have to pay our staff, or do Cancer Research think they should just be laid off for the month? We raise money for the government in the form of VAT and duty on beer etc. We pay tax, as do our employees. Before you decide to give it all up remember that the pub might not be there when you want it next.
In the meantime,to tempt you during January we have loads of music and stuff!
